In Kyiv, authorities have reported repeated air-raid alerts and attacks that have disrupted transportation, schools, and other essential services. Reuters reported Saturday that the capital has faced increasingly frequent drone attacks, including strikes that caused casualties and power outages.

The latest escalation comes as Russian forces continue to launch large-scale aerial attacks across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses have attempted to intercept incoming weapons while emergency crews respond to fires, damaged buildings, and other consequences of the strikes. The Associated Press reported that Russian attacks have increasingly extended beyond nighttime hours, creating prolonged disruption for residents of Kyiv.

Zelenskyy Death Claim Remains Unverified

Amid the renewed attacks, unverified posts have circulated on social media claiming that a Russian strike hit a secure Ukrainian location and killed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

There is no credible confirmation of that claim in the reporting reviewed for this story. Established international news organizations have continued reporting on Zelenskyy’s activities, including Reuters reports published on September 5 concerning his position on a temporary pause in strikes during diplomatic discussions.

The spread of such claims highlights the difficulty of verifying information during wartime, when false reports about political and military leaders can spread rapidly across social media platforms.

War Continues Amid Diplomatic Efforts

The latest attacks are occurring as diplomatic efforts involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine continue. Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow on Saturday as Washington sought to revive negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.

Despite these diplomatic contacts, fighting and aerial attacks remain ongoing.

For now, claims that Zelenskyy has been killed remain unverified and should not be presented as fact unless they are confirmed by Ukrainian authorities or multiple independent, credible sources.

KYIV, Ukraine — Russia has intensified its aerial attacks on Ukraine, with waves of drones and missiles striking multiple areas and disrupting daily life as the war continues.
